Baby #2 is on the way and it’s another little boy for this family! I’m a boy mom, so I’m just a little partial.

What a gorgeous couple! She brought a couple of her own accessories and that sweater is just perfect to showcase the belly! This session was a lot of fun and I appreciate you guys choosing me to photograph this special time in your life. I can’t wait to meet your newest little one.

The Boy, Age 5 {Fort Worth Child Photographer}

I love being able to take images of my son as he grows. But, if I’m being honest, WOW, can he be difficult at times. Today was such a day where I just wanted to pull my hair out while trying to get a good image. We came home from church and he just looked so handsome. Last year I started doing a yearly album of him, so we were due for our monthly picture for his “5″ album. So upstairs we go to my favorite natural light spot – the balcony – to pop off a few. It doesn’t help that it is 102 and we are both hungry for lunch. So between him pulling out the beanbag chair that he wants to use to sit on and him having his own ideas of what looks good – doesn’t he know I’m a professional LOL! – we do manage to get a few good ones. Whew! Until next month . . .

Baby Cooper Turns 1 {Fort Worth Baby Pictures}

Another one of my Watch Me Grow members has graduated! It is so exciting to see them grow up, but sad too because I won’t get to see them as often. Baby Cooper is such a beautiful, delightful baby. Just take a look at those lips! Amy and Drew, it has been wonderful getting to know you this past year and I can’t wait to photograph Cooper becoming a little big boy.

Meet this 7 month old, sweet, adorable, smiling, happy boy – Mack. He is the Morgan family’s second child. If you have been following me for long, you may remember Jase Phineus – always adorable and cute with just the perfect name (ok, so I’m a little biased there). At 7 months old, this little boy is the spitting image of his big brother – all except for his brown eyes. We even photographed him in the same cowboy hat!

I love photographing little boys. Maybe because I have one myself and I was a tomboy growing up – I don’t know, but they are so fun and are just who they are when being photographed. I have photographed Kaden a couple of times over the last year and a half and now he and his sister have joined my new Kids Club. This program is especially for people who want to document their kids year but don’t have the time and/or talent to scrapbook all the millions of pictures that we take of our children! 3 sessions throughout the year – a studio, at your home, a location of your choice. We are building an album for you and them to treasure. We chose Kaden’s first session to be indoors since it is so stinkin’ hot right now, but his next one is going to be him and his grandfather fishing over by their golf course. Oh, I so can’t wait for that!

I belong to the Professional Photographers of America association and one of the perks of being a member is that we get a free magazine every month – Professional Photographer Magazine. I was flipping through it casually this month – they had a cute picture of a newborn on the cover and I just LOVE taking pictures of newborns. So I got to page 28 and stopped in shock! There, one of my pictures was published in the magazine. I can’t tell you what it feels like to see your art published for 100’s of thousands to see. And, associated with a charity! Just wanted to share.

So for those who follow me on Facebook (you too can be my friend :>)), I already hinted about partnering with Professional Photographers of America and becoming a Smile Studio. One funny friend asked “don’t people already smile in your studio?”. They just think they are funny.

Starting in June, we will have a big kick off jumpstarting our commitment to raise funds for the Operation Smile charity organization. This is a Virginia based organization whose network of volunteers work worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates.

It takes only $240 to repair the smile of a child because the medical professionals and staff who provide these life-changing operations volunteer their services to Operation Smile. I have already purchased the smile of one child, lets work together to restore nine more this year. I’m calling this campaign 10 for 2010. We will have an official “Smile Counter” at the top to mark our progress through the year. There will be specials and promotions throughout with a Big One being announced on June 1st, right here on the blog!

In the meantime, check out some of the amazing changes Operation Smile has accomplished in the lives of children and their families.

5 is a big deal

I never knew just how big a deal turning 5 years old is to a child until my son and all his friends had this momentous birthday. It’s been a month since Jace turned 5 and he still will walk up to anyone and say “You know, I’m a 5 year old”. It is the cutest thing! During his preschool graduation, a slideshow was played documenting the whole year. Scattered throughout the video were the children telling the camera what they wanted to be when they grew up. There was a lot of firemen (and one fire truck!), a race car driver, a doctor or two, an artist . . . the standard. But one really stuck out. A little boy at the end said all he wanted to be was 5. Everyone laughed because he was the last one yet to have this big birthday and he knew just how special it was!

5 years old is a precious age for your child. They are just in between being your baby and the young men and women yet to come. Our children’s childhoods go by so fast. Preserve this “big age of 5″ with big boy and girl portraits of your child. They will thank you when they are older and you will have “5″ for a lifetime.

Jared – Keller High School Senior

It is not often that I get to photograph “big people”, but when I do, we have a lot of fun! This guy was extra special because they were one of my very first families I photographed when I opened the studio. Now, three years later Jared’s all grown up, handsome as can be, and ready to graduate high school.

Good luck Jared. Enjoy every minute because after this, time flies way too fast!
