Summer in Review

Wow, summer is almost over. I was looking back at some snapshots and thought it would be fun to do a review.

It started off with a bang in Hawaii (you can see those pictures below). What a way to kick off the summer, eh?
A group of friends an I thought our little ones needed some fun, educational outings this summer so we all picked different places to go and set up tours. We started off with the Treasury Dept in Fort Worth. We all got to see just how our paper money is printed. Now that was cool.
Bank1 Later on in the summer we followed up our "money lesson" with a trip to Washington Mutual. We got a tour of the bank and got to operate the drive thru! Later on, the kids made a money tree (I guess now we can't say that money doesn't grow on trees!) Thanks Mr. Dan (and the bank President) for an awesome experience.

In the middle, we threw in a bounce house day (hey, they got to have a little fun huh?) Then we headed off to Kroger and got a full, behind the scenes look at the grocery store – meat lockers, storage, the bakery (mmmm tortillas and cookies). Mr. Craig, thanks for all your patience.

Then it was off to Cabellas to check out all the animals and take a tour of their store. All of those stuffed animals were once alive – I had no idea!

Last, but not least especially in my son's book, was a tour of CiCi's pizza. The kids got to make their own and then play video games (without quarters – remember when that was fun?).

All in all, a great, educational summer for little man. Thanks Christy for thinking this up.

During all of this I decided that it had been way too long since I had done any duathlons or triathlons. Before I had my son, my husband and I would do at least 2 a month in the summer. It had been 5 years and I was determined to get back in shape. In July, I did my first Du and then just last week I did a Triathlon again. Boy I forgot just how much I missed them. I have 2 more before the summer season ends. Wish me luck and health!!

After the Du – boy was it hot!

So while I was "getting in shape", I was also taking a cake decorating class. I know, I know kinda contradictory. A friend of mine is a cake decorator, (Frosted Garden), and she graciously offered to teach a group of us the finer art of cake decorating. Let's just say when I need a cake, I'm calling her to make it for me! LOL. Very fun class and it was great having a ladies night every Monday.
Here's Jace with one of my cakes and cupcakes:

So, summer of '08 was a success. On to fall (my favorite time of year)!!!
